Just would like to know what you think of my first purchase. Good or bad. Got $26.50 FV of 90% silver. For $11.30 per dollar of FV. One 1/10th gold Engelhard Prospector for $86.00. Can't find anything about this gold coin, Any info about it would be great thanks.

I think that 1/10th prospector may be a scarce and sought after item. It may have a higher premium than you paid so it was a good deal.

IMO ditto! Good job all the way around. Engelhard didn't strike many gold prospectors. In the last 10 years I've only seen one...I believe it was a 1/4 oz. I suspect all the gold prospectors are collector's items.

Sounds great for a first purchase! Tell us, was the 90% in modern design coins (i.e. roosevelt dimes and washington quarters) or older designs like standing liberties and mercs? I like the older stuff better. As a matter of fact, I just bought a roll of xf-au walking liberty halves for 12.5 x face!

When I buy from a local shop, I compare the local price with APMEX, and if the local guy is cheaper, I buy.
